I'm Steve, a Newcastle-based music producer, recording and mixing engineer. I work closely with artists to bring out the best in their music, building on their strengths and helping them make their sound their own.

For me, good production starts with understanding the people behind the music. I want to know what influences them, how they approach their songwriting and what they're trying to achieve. I particularly enjoy working with young and emerging artists, helping them explore their ideas, develop their sound and grow in confidence as musicians.

I've spent most of my life playing guitar, singing, writing songs and performing in bands around Newcastle, Sydney and the Mid North Coast. I've also spent time recording in professional studios as an artist, so I know what it's like to be on the other side of the microphone.

Home recording has been a passion of mine for years, and over the past decade I've developed my production skills through hands-on experience and working with other musicians. I also hold a Masters in Digital Media.

I really enjoy the creative process, whether that's working through an arrangement, exploring different sounds, developing a performance or recognising when something already works. I like sharing what I've learned and seeing the ideas that come out of working together.

Most of my recording and production work happens at BG Studio, my purpose-built studio in Newcastle. It's a relaxed space where we can develop ideas, try different approaches and focus on making music.
